Press Release - Boston Marathon - 5/14/20

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

                     B.A.A. Recognizes Student-Athletes
through Class of 2020 and B.A.A. Honor Roll

The Boston Athletic Association proudly recognizes the B.A.A. Scholastic
Mile Class of 2020 and Middle School 1K Honor Roll. Sixty-four middle and
high school athletes from the cities and towns along the Boston Marathon
route have been named to the lists, which celebrates student-athletes who
were selected to represent their hometowns on Boston Marathon weekend.

"We at the B.A.A. applaud each and every student-athlete for earning the
opportunity to represent their town and team on the Class of 2020 and Honor
Roll lists," said Tom Grilk, Chief Executive Officer of the B.A.A. "These
student-athletes deserve celebration and recognition for what they have
accomplished both on and off the field of play. Not only are they some of
the most accomplished runners in the area, but also very hard workers and
students."

The 12th annual B.A.A. Scholastic Mile and Middle School 1K athletes were
nominated by coaches and selected by the B.A.A. to represent their
hometowns based on their athletic and leadership achievements. The races,
originally scheduled for Saturday, April 18 but canceled due to COVID-19,
are staples surrounding the Boston Marathon.

In lieu of the traditional competition, which starts and ends at the
storied finish line on Boylston Street, this year’s athletes have
participated in weekly "Track Tuesday" video conferences hosted by the
B.A.A. featuring professional athletes and coaches from the B.A.A. High
Performance team. All athletes will receive certificates of recognition and
running gear from adidas.

Of the 32 high school scholastic milers, 21 are graduating high school
seniors. All 21 plan to pursue higher education in the fall.
