FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

40th celebrations ahead of the Ruby Runners on Marathon Sunday

Event organisers of the Mash Direct Belfast City Marathon are delighted to
welcome on board 6 ambassadors to the new "2022 Ruby Runners" group. The
Ruby Runners have been selected to take part in a very special 40th
anniversary year of the event, training for their first ever marathon in
Belfast on Sunday 1st May 2022.

With around 16 weeks to go, the Ruby Runners can expect a very
comprehensive marathon training package from the event's official sponsors.
This includes a marathon training plan, monthly bespoke strength and
fitness classes / assessments and a 3-month citywide gym membership from
Better (Official Gym Sponsor). Athletics Northern Ireland are providing a
6-month membership and complimentary entry to their Titanic Quarter 10K
event. The group will receive a full training kit, plus a Podium 4 Sport
voucher and gait analysis assessment to ensure each choose the best
marathon footwear for them.

The Ruby Runners will also be supported on their marathon journey by
experts Dr Gavin Breslin (Senior Lecturer in Psychology, Ulster
University), Katie Kirk (the non-diet sports nutritionist) and Dr Aisling
Diamond (Official Marathon Doctor), who are all contributing to the
ambassador programme.

Not to mention goodies provided from title sponsor Mash Direct, including
some of their nutritious vegetable ranges; Tayto with their Advantage
Crispy Lites; and Four Star Pizza, who are set to reward the group with a
well earned pizza voucher upon completion of their 26.2 miles.

And who are the lucky 6 embarking on this special marathon anniversary
journey? The following ambassadors met for the first time (with social
distancing measures in place) at Better Gym Belfast, Church Lane on Monday:
