May 30–31, 2026 | Race Results Roundup | From Delaware to Saskatchewan
Ten marathons spread across North America delivered a full slate of racing across the last weekend of May, with runners navigating everything from the wave-battered Pacific coast to the prairie skyline of Saskatchewan. Five races contested Sunday, May 31, and five more on Saturday, May 30 combined to send 1,843 finishers across finish lines in what proved a competitive and occasionally dramatic close to the month.
The Weekend’s Headline Stories
Fastest Winning Time: Andy Williams Breaks 2:24 in Carmel
♂ Andy Williams 2:23:43 ♀ Nimrit Ahuja 2:51:23 Finishers: 686 Avg: 4:07:13
The single fastest winning time of the weekend belongs to Andy Williams, who crossed the line at the Carmel Marathon in 2:23:43 — a legitimately elite performance on a flat Indiana course. Williams edged Caleb Kerr (2:25:47) and Ethan Meyer (2:25:58) in one of the tightest top-3 men’s finishes of the entire weekend, with just over two minutes separating all three. On the women’s side, Nimrit Ahuja ran a 2:51:23 to take the crown, a time that would be competitive on any road course in the country. With 686 finishers, Carmel was the weekend’s largest and fastest event by every measure.
Fastest Women’s Time: Julia Palin Runs 2:50 in Newport
♂ John Kavulich 2:30:29 ♀ Julia Palin 2:50:02 Finishers: 397 Avg: 4:20:03
The Newport Marathon on the Oregon coast produced the weekend’s fastest women’s winning time: Julia Palin’s 2:50:02, edging Nimrit Ahuja’s Carmel mark by over a minute. The Newport course, hugging the Pacific coastline near the mouth of Yaquina Bay, clearly favors speed — John Kavulich’s 2:30:29 men’s win further underscores this. With 397 finishers, Newport ranked second in field size for the weekend and proved that small-city marathons on the Oregon coast can attract genuinely fast athletes.
Closest Women’s Top-2 Finish: Darbi Edwards and Ashley Struck at Saskatchewan
♂ Louis Marmar Maruk 2:26:59 ♀ Darbi Edwards 3:07:00 Finishers: 344 Avg: 4:26:58
The Spring Mud Mountain Dam Marathon in Enumclaw, Washington delivered two strong performances and the weekend’s lowest field average on any road race: an eye-catching 4:00:06 across 186 finishers. Julia Rowland’s 3:07:02 and Alicia McCormick’s 3:08:32 produced the most competitive women’s top-2 finish of the weekend, separated by barely 90 seconds. Drew Piazza’s 2:39:34 men’s win was equally clinical.
Race-by-Race Results
Carmel Marathon
♂ Andy Williams 2:23:43 ♀ Nimrit Ahuja 2:51:23 Finishers: 686 Avg: 4:07:13
The Carmel Marathon was the unambiguous centerpiece of the weekend — the largest field, the fastest men’s winning time, and a highly competitive podium across both divisions. Williams, Kerr, and Meyer finished within 2:15 of each other, which rarely happens outside of mass-participation city marathons. Nimrit Ahuja’s women’s win in 2:51:23 was followed closely by Olivia Bradley (2:53:38) and Adelyn Fairley (2:54:40), a top-3 spread of just three minutes that speaks to genuine depth. A field average of 4:07:13 is excellent for a 686-person event and confirms Carmel’s reputation as a destination race for runners chasing personal bests on a fast course.
Conquer the Cove Marathon
♂ Samuel Van Valkenburg 3:25:27 ♀ Buffie Hill 4:54:10 Finishers: 74 Avg: 5:26:37
The Conquer the Cove Marathon in Roanoke presented a different kind of challenge. The field average of 5:26:37 — among the highest of the weekend — signals a demanding course in Virginia’s Blue Ridge foothills. Samuel Van Valkenburg’s 3:25:27 men’s win and Jacob Coccia’s 3:26:36 second-place finish made for an extremely close top-2 battle. On the women’s side, Buffie Hill’s 4:54:10 victory reflected conditions that tested every runner’s endurance. With 74 finishers, this is a community-scale race that asks a great deal of its participants.
Newport Marathon
♂ John Kavulich 2:30:29 ♀ Julia Palin 2:50:02 Finishers: 397 Avg: 4:20:03
As noted in the headline section, Newport was the weekend’s fastest course for women and one of the fastest overall. The top-3 men — Kavulich (2:30:29), Tanis Leach (2:37:42), and Scott Pinske (2:39:26) — formed a competitive lead pack on the Pacific coast course. The women’s race was even tighter at the front: Palin’s 2:50:02, Orie Gonzales’s 3:00:32, and Natalie Denlinger Drumm’s 3:02:16 created a genuine three-way battle across the finish stretch. Newport’s 397-person field and 4:20 average confirm it as one of the Pacific Northwest’s premier spring marathon events.
Saskatchewan Marathon
♂ Louis Marmar Maruk 2:26:59 ♀ Darbi Edwards 3:07:00 Finishers: 344 Avg: 4:26:58
The Saskatchewan Marathon brought the weekend across the border to Saskatoon, where Louis Marmar Maruk ran a 2:26:59 — the second-fastest men’s winning time of the entire weekend — on the flat prairie course along the South Saskatchewan River. David Mutai (2:32:15) and Kip Kangogo (2:39:49) completed a fast men’s podium. The women’s race featured one of the tightest finishes of the weekend: Darbi Edwards (3:07:00) and Ashley Struck (3:07:06) were separated by just six seconds — a photo-finish-worthy gap after 26.2 miles. With 344 finishers, Saskatchewan ranked third in field size for the weekend.
Red Island State Marathon
♂ Evan McIntire 2:50:47 ♀ Joy Nystrom 3:30:37 Finishers: 49 Avg: 4:54:36
The Red Island State Marathon in Warwick, Rhode Island drew 49 finishers for a competitive small-field race. Evan McIntire’s 2:50:47 men’s win was solid, with Ryan Carrara (3:07:45) and Danforth Sullivan (3:07:59) finishing in near-identical times for second and third. Joy Nystrom took the women’s race in 3:30:37, well clear of Dana Koman (3:52:45) in second. At a 4:54 field average, Red Island sits in the moderate-difficulty range and offers a classic New England spring marathon experience.
Spring – Mud Mountain Dam Marathon
♂ Drew Piazza 2:39:34 ♀ Julia Rowland 3:07:02 Finishers: 186 Avg: 4:00:06
Held in the foothills of the Cascades on Saturday, the Mud Mountain Dam Marathon delivered one of the weekend’s most impressive performances: a 4:00:06 field average — the lowest of any road race across the two days — across 186 finishers. The entire top-3 women’s podium finished between 3:07 and 3:10, which is remarkable depth for a race of this size. Drew Piazza’s 2:39:34 men’s win, backed up by Christopher Hunt (2:43:21) and Michael Searing (2:49:35), completed a fast day’s work in Enumclaw.
Conquer The Canal
♂ Michael Pizzi 3:14:16 ♀ Julia Slovis 3:56:15 Finishers: 46 Avg: 4:35:54
The Conquer The Canal Marathon traces the banks of the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal through Delaware City on a flat but exposed course. Michael Pizzi’s 3:14:16 took the men’s race ahead of Haroon Ahmed (3:30:12) and Sergey Volkov (3:34:27). Julia Slovis won the women’s division in 3:56:15, with Kimmie Shoe (4:11:51) and Caitlin Wood (4:26:17) completing the podium. The 46-person field and 4:35 average reflect a niche but dedicated mid-Atlantic running community.
Nutmeg State Marathon
♂ Michael DeGeorge 2:51:13 ♀ Rachel Saak 4:11:11 Finishers: 32 Avg: 5:03:09
Hartford’s Nutmeg State Marathon is a small, scrappy New England race that has attracted a loyal following in Connecticut’s running community. Michael DeGeorge’s 2:51:13 edged Matthew Goldsmith’s 2:51:28 in a near-dead-heat for the men’s title — just 15 seconds after 26.2 miles. Rachel Saak won the women’s race in 4:11:11. The 5:03 field average signals a course with some character and 32 finishers put it among the smaller races of the weekend.
Cinderella Trail Run
♂ Chase Van Amburg 4:13:53 ♀ Talia Ruxin 4:07:59 Finishers: 21 Avg: 6:10:31
The Cinderella Trail Run in the Oakland Hills produced the weekend’s single most striking individual result: Talia Ruxin’s 4:07:59 women’s winning time was faster than the men’s winner, Chase Van Amburg’s 4:13:53. That is a rare inversion on any course and a remarkable performance in its own right. The 6:10 field average and 21-person field confirm this as a demanding technical trail race through the East Bay Regional Parks.
Weld Your Mettle Running Festival
♂ Kaden Hampton 4:41:58 ♀ Jentry Holt 5:29:58 Finishers: 8 Avg: 5:34:24
Eight finishers. A 5:34 average. A winning men’s time of 4:41. The Weld Your Mettle Running Festival in Eaton, Colorado, is the weekend’s most intimate event. Kaden Hampton (4:41:58), Gunnar Gleasman (4:49:01), and Jacob Buss (5:01:17) made up the men’s podium, while Jentry Holt won the women’s division in 5:29:58. Every one of the eight finishers crossed the line having earned it.

The last weekend of May proved what every committed runner already knows: the marathon calendar doesn’t slow down when the weather warms up. It accelerates.
