| Course Description: | Dune Marathon is a race in 42K, 21K and 10K format organized by Geo-Planet Eventos with Makalu Adventure Travel & Tours. It takes place in the spectacular setting of the Dune of Merzouga (Morocco). Temperature may range from 11-20 degrees centigrade. The race is practically flat but will include two sectors with dunes. All participants will run with a geolocator and there will be several support vehicles, although the circuit is easy to run and very visible. | |
| Course Highlights: | Run in the Moroccan Sahara Desert, particularly the exotic Merzouga Dune. The course features 350m of positive slope and 350m negative in the Marathon distance. Running surface consists of 85% hammada and 15% dune. The hammada is a flat surface and easy to run. In the dune, the pace is slower but the accumulated unevenness is not high, although there are short up-down slopes. | |
