This must be the flattest of my 40 marathons. No spectacular scenery but lots of open countryside. With road closures for virtually the whole of the course there was a safe and spacious feel to the event. The four-pen start was managed quite well, and it was easy to spot the pacers. The drinks stns were managed well, providing bottled water, and a few with sport-drinks, also bottled. Gels were also available at a couple of stns. Quite a low-key event but could easily grow to be a very popular run. Baggage drop was simplicity itself; good security and plenty of helpful volunteers. Good results and photography service. Just over 2000 runners in the marathon, meaning that I crossed the start line after 2mins (in the 3rd pen). Support was patchy, due to the nature of the course, but enthusiastic where people did gather. Certainly a pb course.
