"Amazing scenery, energetic crowd!" (about: 2019)

We ran our first 26.2 at the MVM a few months ago! The enthusiastic crowd cheering throughout the course, the encouraging volunteers providing the extra push you need the last few miles, and the beautiful scenery on the Vineyard made for a great race day. The registration process was straightforward, and we were able to spend the rest of day on the Vineyard. We're already looking forward to our next one. Thanks, MVM!

The 2019 Martha's Vineyard Marathon was fantastic! I loved running along the ocean for the final stretch. I'm not sure what was better - the perfect weather or the smiling faces along the way. I have never experienced a more supportive and welcoming marathon community and I can wait to run with you again next year.

"Beautiful, low-key, fun run-cation!" (about: 2019)

I loved this race! The course was beautiful, well marked, amazing views and fun route. I felt it was very organized and easy to navigate and a fun place to run-cation!! I stayed in Falmouth and then took the ferry over in the morning and didn't have any problems. It was really nice to have the high school open to stay in before the start. The finish is right by the ocean and the perfect place to go relax after running. If you're looking for a low key beautiful race/weekend get away this is worth you're time.

"Great flat, fast course in a beautiful place." (about: 2019)

I traveled in from Atlanta to run the Martha's Vineyard Marathon and I loved it! It was my 5th marathon of 2019 and my favorite so far, the vineyard is beautiful and the course is flat and fast! There are well placed and well stocked aid stations at regular intervals, the volunteers are excellent, and the buses to get you where you need to go before and after the race are quick and easy. The last 4 miles are along beautiful coast, and getting to run jaws bridge is cool. Local vendors came out to the after party, which was really nice, lots of cool merch, and of course the post-race beer and snacks were great! Thanks for a great race! I can't wait to come back.

"Nice Small Destination Marathon" (about: 2019)

11-50 previous marathons | 1 Martha's Vineyard Marathon
COURSE: 4  ORGANIZATION: 4  FANS: 1

This was my 40th marathon and first MV. Decided to run it last minute. All and all a very nice marathon if you are looking for a small peaceful run in the spring. The course was mostly flat with a few (4?) very small steep hills through the forest but lasted less than a minute. Really, no big deal. There were not many participants in the full marathon compared to the half so most people were partying by the time the marathoners were finishing. However, I have always noticed this is true to all races with both full and half. My only complaint was the bib pick-up is quite difficult if you are not staying on the island. The only option at the time of registration was mail (extra fee) which I signed up too late for and Friday pick-up on the island (not easy for those working on Friday). They did accommodate those exceptions for same day pick-up with a cost of $35. Worth it to me though. The start of the race was congested only because we were told to stay off of the road and on the bike path which is extremely hard to do even with waves. I would suggest starting the marathoners earlier if possible which might alleviate some of it and also help out with the time you are spent in the peak heat. This year there was not a cloud in the sky all day - it wasn't what I would call 'hot' but none of us were used to running in the sun/heat because of the freakish rainy season so there was a lot of sunburns visible. I was outside from 6:00 AM until 5:00 PM if you include waiting for ferry in Falmouth, waiting for race to start, race, waiting for ferry to get back and then drive back to Boston. However, heat and sun is all Mother Nature. Just a heads up for planning if you are in the Boston area. I would recommend this race but remember it is small and doesn't come with the bells and whistles of the large ones. Sometimes that can be refreshing.

"Best Marathon Venue Ever Hands Down!" (about: 2019)

This was hands down the best marathon I've ever run, I managed to get that PR I was chasing, and I owe it all to the great volunteers, great spectators and great views of Martha's Vineyard! Nothing like the promise of beer at the end to keep you going too!

"This was truly a perfect race!" (about: 2019)

I have done dozens of marathons and Martha's Vineyard Marathon was without a doubt the best one! The course was breathtaking through the shaded bike path and finishing along the gorgeous ocean. Not to mention how well marked each mile was and how amazing all the volunteers were giving out snacks, water, Gatorade, and even sunscreen! I cannot wait to do this again next year with my friends! Thank you so much for an incredible day! :)

"Great race for a first-time marathoner" (about: 2018)

1 previous marathon | 1 Martha's Vineyard Marathon
COURSE: 5  ORGANIZATION: 4  FANS: 3

The Martha's Vineyard Marathon is my first marathon and I had a great experience all around! I had never been to the Vineyard before and already can't wait to go back. The course was flat and fast which made it perfect for a first-time runner. Running along the beach and through Edgartown into Oak Bluffs was fun and scenic but nothing beat the energy coming into Waban Park and running through the flags to the finish line.

"Peaceful and Serene Course" (about: 2018)

1 previous marathon | 1 Martha's Vineyard Marathon
COURSE: 5  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 5

This was my first marathon and I really didn't know what to expect, but my overall experience was great! The organization of the MVM was really well done, I absolutely loved the course (so peaceful and serene) and I am already planning on coming back next year. While my knee seized up around mile 18 and I literally couldn't run the last 8 miles because of the pain and had to walk, other runners and spectators cheered me on and encouraged me to keep going and to not give up. I'm glad I listened them (and not my own thoughts) and was able to make it across the finish line.
