"Biggest marathon disappointment thus-far" (about: 2015)

Well, after seeing the positive comments here, I had high expectations, that soon came crashing down. The race director quit immediately after this race, so maybe it was just this year that was bad. The race shirts were not available at the packet pickup...the marathon started late...the 1st aid station wasn't even ready to hand anything out when I ran past...most aid stations didn't tell you what was in which cup, the sports drink was so watered down it should have just been water... lots of plastic cups instead of paper (very hard for a runner to drink from)...a few of the stations were excellent (but not many)...I finished in the top 5 and when I did, they said they were out of finishing medals!?! They said they were going to mail them soon, its been 2 months and I haven't seen mine yet...really starting to lose hope...I usually like small-town marathons but trust me....STAY AWAY FROM THIS MARATHON!!! Like I said, maybe it was only 2015 that stunk, but you may want to seriously consider a different one.

"Perfect small race! TONS of heart" (about: 2013)

I am a huge fan of this race!!! It is small (I believe less than 100 marathoners the year I ran), but INCREDIBLY well done. The scenery is beautiful with a good mix of rolling hills and flat farmland. The race director is second to none, and truly cares about runner feedback and overall race experience. The water-stops, if I remember correctly, all had food (like gummies and pretzels)/ Gatorade as well as really fun themes and fans! There were not many spectators on the course, but I found then I really appreciated the water stops more! The race shirt was a nice Nike long sleeve tech tee, and there were still age group awards AND an award ceremony even with the small size of the race!!! We waited and cheered for EVERY runner to finish, no matter what speed. Like I said, I really recommend this race! It makes my top 5 (out of 36) marathons, it is for a great cause, and it feels like the town comes together to make it happen. I really loved the entire experience, and my hotel even packed me a breakfast box to take to the start! If you're looking for a race with heart, convenience, and a quiet run through the country, sign up, and sign up TODAY!!!

Rebecca Wyatt Nevitt and her race committee did an excellent job with the race. Pre race everything was smooth- plenty of parking, bathrooms inside or outside port a johns were options as well, dj with music, and national anthem. During race - plenty of aid stations with very friendly people working them. Loved the station with the ladies dressed up with mms, and nerds suits. Mile markers were clearly marked and each mile sign had a great quote to motivate you. Turns were clearly marked. Since I was leading I also had a lead jeep which I loved to help keep cars aware of the race. Maybe next year have some bikers with some of the other runners to control traffic when needed. Post race- plenty of food options. The wraps were very good as well as cookies. I always like chocolate milk when I finish and was happy they had it. Everyone was very friendly after the race. Shirts were new balance and are dri fit and fit good. Medals were nice, although it would be cool to have picture of garden of gods or something else unique that would stand out. Also it is a certified BOSTON Qualifier with chip timing. Well done.
