"Great race for a small marathon!" (about: 2020)

Despite Covid, this race was very organized. The bibs were mailed or could be picked up at the start line. Water and gatorade were given to the runners in small bottles at the aid stations. No spectators were allowed on course but the trail was not closed to bikers, runners, or clean up crew that were not involved with the race. The route was well marked with pink ribbons. Fall colors, Lake Accotink and Creek Accotink made the route beautiful.

"Perfect Covid Marathon" (about: 2020)

When I saw that this race was being held with Covid-19 restrictions, I was so excited to finally race in-person and a great diversion with what's going on in the country. The course was set up pretty well and easy to follow. The marathon was a double out-and-back course which was perfect considering the size of the race. The aid stations were spaced appropriately and had plenty of fluids. I applaud the organizers with pulling this off.

The only drawback (and no fault of the organizers) was since it was such a beautiful day (70+) that the park became real crowded with walkers, bikers and other runners. Of course, one can't control the weather, but I'll take it over the cold we had the weekend before. Thank you, Altis!
