"Beautiful, well organized, small race." (about: 2019)

Very small race (about 50 finishers) through the vineyards. Two loops, mostly packed dirt trails. Pretty course. Well organized with ample rest-stops. Not much crowd support so if that's important for you probably not your race. Excellent post-race set up with food and drink.

"Great rural but real marathon" (about: 2012)

This was my husband's and my 10th marathon of 12 in 2012 for 12 straight months. Was feeling tired and not too excited to run another marathon until race morning when the clean crisp air and enthusiastic volunteers got me back into marathon spirit. Marathon start was a little sudden - since there weren't too many runners it didn't cause a problem. Nice course, a little hillier than I expected and into a headwind on the way back, but running in the country and alongside vineyards was nice and made up for the hills and wind. Didn't miss the crowds of the bigger city marathons and once back into town, the spectators again cheered you on. Post-race meal a BIG plus as were the awards. Age division finishers reaped a lot of nice local wines, ales, etc. I would recommend this race to anyone (except those who need a lot of 'hoop -lah').

This marathon is very small, but impeccably organized. No spectators but the volunteers more than made up for it. Course is very quiet and pretty flat (Streets are not closed for traffic but this is not necessary given than you can run on the sidewalk or side of the road with no problems). Medal was very nice, free photos posted in their website, nice wine glass souvenir. I would definitely do it again.

"Great local event!" (about: 2012)

The course is not fast, but scenic if you like vineyards. Be sure to wear sunglasses as you'll be running into the sun for the first half. For the second half, I was running into the wind. Nevertheless, the volunteers were so awesome - friendly and knowing what to do! The less stars were due to lack of spectators.

Overall it was well organized. All the aid stations were in good positions, they had plenty water, electrolytes, fruit, and Gu for everyone, and the volunteers were amazing, very encouraging and willing to help with any/everything. At crossroads in the course traffic monitors did an excellent job stopping traffic and directing runners. At the finish there was a great BBQ, fine Cloverdale Ale and wine. This was my 2nd marathon, I set a PR in spite of the fact that it was a tougher course than my 1st marathon (1st marathon was The Bizz Johnson trail Marathon)
