"Terrific Little Scenic Race" (about: 2009)

This was a great race! Lots of hills, but nothing too overwhelming. The course went from the small town of Gottswart (Bottwartal) to paved trails cutting through fields, weaving through forests and vineyards, and then back into town. The half-marathoners finished where we started, while the marathoners continued to yet another small town, past more fields, etc. and then the finish. Organization and crowd support were excellent! I don't read German, so that was tough... but maybe I need to learn German? I would definitely run this one again.

"Great Event!" (about: 2008)

Great race. The spectators were especially motivating. There were live bands, people barbecuing, and people all along the course making noise. At some points they called you off by name as people cheered you on. There was a constant presence of race staff, police, fire fighters, and ambulances throughout the course. There were four banana stations and plenty more water stations. The course itself had loamy hills, with sharp turns at points, but they were not too bad. The view through the small ancient towns and German countryside was very nice. At the end, my family was able to find me and see me cross the finish pretty easily. We took a short walk to the car and drove away with very little traffic. I got a nice t-shirt, a medal, a small bottle of wine, and a bag of race goodies; and I had a great experience, all for under $50. Definitely recommend this one.
