 "Excellent Race - Run it twice" (General Comments)

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 4 FANS: 5 I ran Guadalajara in 2002 and 2003 and am sorry I can't do it this year since they moved it to October. The course is very scenic, the spectators are the best of any marathon I've run, and it's well organized. Purified water is given in sealed pouches - very handy and no worries about local tap. I didn't drink the Gatorade though, since I assumed it was mixed with tap water. Website is a little slow to get updated, but I highly recommend this marathon to anyone. And Guadalajara is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, so spend some extra time there. | |

"Great running environment!" (about: 2003)
COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 4 FANS: 5 I thought the 2003 Marathon was great fun. The start was exciting, the weather was perfect, the route varied in scenery, not too hilly, and it was well-patrolled. The fans were so pleasant and supportive and water and refreshments were always nearby. My only wish for improvement is the registration process. For an international marathon, few spoke English and there was a long wait for your number and chip. I would do it again, though. | |

"super spectators in a great city" (about: 1999)
COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 4 FANS: 5 I ran this race in 1999 and really enjoyed it. The route circled around different parts of the city and had some hills...don't quite remember all of them. The crowd really cheered for you and many people held out candy and drinks. There were many aid stations with water and gatorade, you get a race booklet and t-shirt all for about $10. Guadalajara is a great running city with races almost every weekend. Many races in Mexico have prize money that attracts very fast folks from all over the country. If you are in town you should check out this marathon but don't expect a PR. |
