The marathon starts at Saint Mary's Junction, Freeport and finished at Queen's Park Savannah Port of Spain. A Shuttle bus picks you up from outside your hotel.

My only one criticism of the TTM 2017 was that there was only one energy drink station with paper cups, there should have been 3 energy drink stations. It would be nice to have pieces of bananas and oranges to eat during the race at one or two stations. I think there were about 24 water stations. I was never short of drinking 'Blues Bottled Drinking Water' but I seriously started cramping in my hamstrings due to loss of electrolyte caused by the heat.

To be honest I was not very fit before race (atishoo)

The Spectators and Relay Runners were cheering and shouting words of encourgment also clapping their hands. that was really nice (they could see I was clearly struggling) There were plenty of Marshals. There were many Police Men/Women on foot and on their bikes who were working hard conducting road traffic during the race they did a fantastic job.

At end of the race there was plenty of food and drink also music Subway provided meat rolls but did not cater for the veggies (oops).

I was so pleased that I did not cancel this race due to viral flu I picked up few weeks before the race.
Because I would of missed one of the best race's I ever ran.

Places to visit in Port of Spain in Trinidad Emperor Valley Zoo (Trinidad and Tobago biggest Zoo) and Royal Botanical Garden which is next door.

This race is chip timing and you get a medal and Techinal T shirt.

I ran your marathon on Jan 27, 2005 and found it to be quite enjoyable. Support from spectators along the course was tremendous, especially that of my family that followed the race by car with Uncle Roy signs, screaming and honking horns. In general the course was good; however, the traffic circle before the finish was mismanaged. I lost all momentum at that point - there was just too much traffic and too many people in the street. I still managed to run a 3:27+.

As for race schedule, I was forced to make two trips to Trinidad: one for carnival and one for the race. In the future I think it will be nice to have the race about one week before carnival and set the date in stone. That will allow us to kill two birds with one stone and you will have a guaranteed larger turnout. On a much lighter note, after finishing the race, the tickets I received for the meal and the mug got lost; one of your officials got me a plate when he learned of my misfortune. For that I was very thankful; however, the young ladies guarding those little white boxes refused to budge. They stood their ground: no ticket, no mug. they all deserve jobs in national security. In my heart, I know Trinidad will be a lot safer if those ladies have anything to do with it. A mug for my desk, a little something to show off, would have been nice.

Much love, Uncle Roy.
