The loop course, completely closed to traffic, was planned out for a fast pace. Starting in the town of Egna, it winds through fields and fruit groves passing throu gh the scenic towns of Ora, Lago di Caldaro, Cortaccia, Magr&egrave; and Cortina, the point furthest south on the course. The marathon finish line is the same as the starting line, in the center of historic Egna. The course is flat, completely paved and fast. In 1996 this marathon was the location for the Italian amateur/masters championship.
