No doubt this course was difficult, but what do you expect in WV? The organization and crown support were good especially for a first time race. I have run some of the largest races in the country that did not go this well.

"Good start, but needs some improvements" (about: 2015)

It is a tough course with long stretches without spectators. That being said, the spectators who were out were great. The organizers definitely did their best to mark the course which I'm sure was difficult with the number of turns. I am sure next year's race will only see improvements as it gains more support from the community.

If you are looking for a large race with a bountiful expo, this is not for you. If you are looking for a challenge and to support a good cause, this is your race.

Overall, thought it was a good inaugural race for a small town, but could use some improvements.

A great inaugural marathon through the almost heavenly hills (aka mountains) of Morgantown. If you want to challenge yourself AND run for a great cause...this is the marathon for you. Thank you to the many volunteers, police, and military who manned the fluid stations, intersections, and course.

I thought a WV course would be challenging but scenic, wrong! This was the hilliest but most boring course, run on the side of highways, blighted neighborhoods and through sprawl. So poorly marked we were lucky there were spectators at certain spots. Many roads not blocked off at all. No evidence of medical support at more than 1-2 spots on the course. Expo had absolutely nothing. I know it was their inaugural year but truly, this was a terrible race. Did I mention multiple runners (myself included) had the complete distance at more than 26.2 miles?!

"Interesting Race" (about: 2015)

This marathon takes you on a tour of every hill in Morgantown. It is a good one to do if you are in the mood for something different and challenging.

The good points: It supports a good cause, our veterans, and the crowd support was pretty good for an inaugural marathon. The WVU coliseum was open to the runners before the race, so there was a warm place with plenty of bathrooms to wait for the start of the race.

The bad points: You could not park near the start or finish, so you had to use shuttle buses. Also, the course was unnecessarily difficult with lots of hills and turns. During the associated half marathon, numerous runners got lost.
