"a wonderful race for my first race" (about: 2002)

COURSE: 4  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 3

let me first say that the i give wonderful credit to all the volunteers for the event. everyone i came across was extremely friendly. the organization deserves 5 stars. the course kind of tough, because of spots of ice on the roads. there are some hills, but if you do your training, they can be done. this was my first marathon, so i don't have much to compare it to, but all i know is that it was an amazingly rewarding experience!

"you need to love hills to love this marathon" (about: 2002)

COURSE: 2  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 2

This marathon is designed with three miles of rolling hills at the beginning, and at the end and killer hills in between. Other than that it is flat. Ha. It is very well organized. I train on this course every Saturday and would love to see those in charge of this marathon to reorganize the course to eliminate the three miles of rolling hills at the end. The course is tough enough without them.

"If you like cows and hills . . ." (about: 2001)

COURSE: 2  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 1

The organization of this race is superb and first-rate! The race organizers and volunteers were so friendly and helpful. Aid stations appeared nearly every mile and had plenty of supplies. Lots of awards handed out. Everyone received a medal, and later, a nice certificate of completion comes in the mail.
Only problem, very gruesome course. Quite hilly in the beginning, and even more so in the middle portion. Also, on the way back in, course re-directed onto a trail that was quite torn up in places and provided treacherous footing at times. After a few miles out, the terrain is pretty much all farmland, so not too much to look at.

"Great first-time marathon" (about: 2001)

Very well organized. Extremely friendly people. Service stations are very frequent and helpful. Course is somewhat flat but still challenging. Great over-all experience.

"Great Support!!! Best Run Marathon" (about: 2001)

COURSE: 4  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 2

The course was a bit hilly, it was kinda a out and back course, where the first 3 miles and last 3 are tough...The dinner after the race was GREAT!!!
PowerGel at every aid station, WOW! A lot of awards, but the main thing was the Volunteers... Thank You

"just you, the road, the land & sky, & God." (about: 2000)

I'd run it again. Do your hillwork if you come, especially be prepared for some downhill pounding. It is a well run race.

"Course hilly, rural, good organization, no crowd" (about: 1999)

COURSE: 1  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 1

Course is very hilly, run on farm roads, there are more cows than spectators, aid stations are very good without them you would be out there by yourself. Organization is very good.
