Boston Marathon 2009 – Complete Coverage

The 113th Running of the Boston Marathon provided two significantly different races, but both were fantastic and provided a different storyline than we’ve seen before. The men and women approached the race differently: the women with caution and the men all out without abandon. We thought at one point the men might catch the women – wouldn’t that have been something? But the redemption for the men’s champion and the sprint for the women gave us two stories that we will tell for years.

Race Preview
Robert Kipkoech Cheruiyot will go for his fifth Boston Marathon victory and a record fourth in a row. Several other top men from 2008 have returned to try to disrupt his attempt, and American Ryan Hall will be making his Boston debut after an impressive performance at the 2008 London Marathon. In the women’s race, Dire Tune will defend her title against 2007 winner Lidiya Grigoryeva and up-and-coming American Kara Goucher.
