What a pleasant surprise! The city of Bucharest usually gets a bad rap, and most tourists pass it quickly on the way to Transylvania and castles associated with Count Dracula. Mistake!

An entire course of the Bucharest Marathon is in the central part of the city which is beautiful and green. You start and finish in front of the huge Parliament Palace, the second largest building in the world. Due to a very convenient design of the course, your friends and relatives can meet you many times while you are running. Spectators are quite numerous and supportive. The course is very flat. After the race you get dozens of free photos made by professional photographers on the course.

The bottom line a great Marathon! Run it, enjoy Bucharest architecture and its very active nightlife, and only then go to Transylvania to see Count Dracula!
