COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 This marathon puts the BQ (Boston Qualifier) standard to shame: the latest entry requirement is a SB of sub 2h35, which anyway is met by hundreds of runners each year (Japan racing level is very high). But once you are in, you can enjoy an iconic race, fast course and more or less the same treatment as being a top runner. The best part is that at the start there is a bag drop off next to the start line, so you can keep warm until the last minute, until you are called one by one to your designated spot in the starting grid (more or less like a F1 race...) | |

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 if you are fast enough to meet the entry requirement (recent PB below 2:42), this is the apex of road running.... Course: fast, flat, inside the city. Spectators: tons of them... they have received the entry list so they even scream your name. Organization: perfect. Ambiance, Atmosphere: probably the only race in the world where amateur runners shares all the services with the very top runners (Wanjiru, Geb and Kebede are the most recent winners...). |
