COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 3 This small marathon is amazingly well organized and has incredible support from the tiny island and nearby Bayfield community. Every detail was thought through carefully. Amazing lake views all along the course. Not many spectators. Hot showers at the end was fabulous since it was a cold and windy day. How many marathons do you get to take a ferry too? And get a Lake Superior rock/medal. Worth the trip and a trip in itself! | |

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 4 Excellent, well 'run' event. For any seasoned marathoner or first timer this event is a must do. You can stay on the Island or take the ferry over from the mainland. The later start is a nice change. Sufficient aid. And the scenery is breathtaking to say the least. Top 10 marathon for sure. | |

"Flat, fast, scenic course, well run" (about: 2017)

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 4 Inaugural race and an excellent first marathon and half marathon. The course is fairly flat and very scenic. There are a couple of stretches on gravel road but it was very well maintained and a nice change of pace. Excellent race organization from start to finish. This is on an island so you take the ferry to the Island. There is lodging on the Island and I recommend staying on the Island if you can. Logistically everything worked. The race directors have experience. Excellent post race food and party with beer from a local micro-brewery and a live band (which was excellent). The race organizers are a family that love running and love the island, this is a must do marathon and definitely a BQ course if you like cool weather. |
