Race Details

Swanage, Purbeck and the Jurassic Coast has spectacular history, landscapes and views. The course with well over 2000 feet of climbs provides a predominately off-road Marathon that is both challenging and rewarding. There will be a time limit of 7 hours with progressive course closures so please bear in mind this and the course profile when applying. The marathon is a local community event with the proceeds being distributed to local charities. We received outstanding feedback in 2012, our inaugural year, which we very much hope to replicate this year

I'm a marathon runner and without the volunteers I would be very helpless. Many thanks to all of them. But special thanks to the two ladies who supported me when my legs were cramping. Many thanks to those who marked the course so well that I didn't remember it I could get lost. It is undoubtedly the hardest and most colourful marathon. Thanks lot!

This is largely a trail race, and with 3000 feet of climbing it is not exactly fast - by far the slowest marathon I have ever done. But the course and views are spectacular - I did Big Sur earlier this year, and Purbeck beats it hands down - the sea, chalk cliffs, pastures, quaint English villages, 11th century castle, with lots of great volunteers, and friendly runners. Can't recommend it highly enough - as long as the unpredictable British weather is as good as it was this year! Hardly any spectators, but lots of people walking along the same paths, and they were all very encouraging
