"Very nice tour of State College..." (about: 2015)

Paid for this very early as an event for my Fall training. Location and price point are respectable for what is offered. Best part is the course, since the area is known to be hilly. It was kept as best with small rollers through PSU campus, bike paths, rural, and of course State College. The local community was very awesome, especially the aid stations and around mile 20. Not many spectators in terms of quantity, but enough for the quality to run a fast time!

I have ran in over 100 marathons and don't give high marks often. But this race gets them. A great race starting and ending near the Beaver Stadium, on the Penn State Campus. Course wraps around the city, showing views of MT Nittany and finish is straight run through campus and past the Nittany lion statue. GREAT support, nice climbs, no spectators, which is a plus for me!

"Rolling and Scenic - Fun Run" (about: 2014)

Good job on the 2nd annual event. I had a great time in State College.

Before the run, I found that all of the needed info was on the web site. Plenty of free parking. Easy packet pickup morning or run.

Run was well organized. Plenty of aid stations well stocked with water and electrolytes and run by friendly volunteers. Fun to see the Penn State student athletes. The roads were sort of open to car traffic but well managed by police.

Course was very scenic. I liked the old mill house at the beginning. My favorite aid station was an unofficial table worked by residents at mile 19.5-ish. The peanut m&ms were awesome and thanks for the Coke!

I thought the last bit through campus could use more course markings. But, I found the finish.

Thanks for putting on a great run!

"Solid, small race" (about: 2014)

A very solid race featuring excellent value ($50 early registration fee), great pre-race communication from RD, very easy logistics (parking within feet of finish line), great pre- and post-race staging area with food and drinks, and solid aid stations with water and gatorade at all. Everything that you could want from a small race.
My only complaint is that a few mile markers were either missing, or I missed them. The course was challenging, but fair, with hills aplenty and changing scenery.
Shirt and medal are fine.
Aid station volunteers were terrific.
Not many frills, but a solid small race.

Thank you to all the volunteers. This was my first marathon. Everyone was kind and helpful. The course was hilly bit the downhills were nice. My time was slower than I hoped but I didn't train well either so I'll blame myself for that. Organization was great except after mile 25 I was afraid I turned the wrong way because I wasn't familiar with campus. I luckily was going the right way but would have gone faster if I knew that. Thanks for everything. Overall, great small-town race and I loved the views along the route!
