Good marathon on great course

I have run 96 marathons including 16 grandmas marathons - great course with good views of lake superior, good finish atmosphere and crowd support as you enter Duluth. Only negative is hotels charge too much.

Louisiana girls LOVED Grandma's

This race was AMAZING! The hospitality of the volunteers, the pasta party, the train to the start, our hotel located AT the finish line, etc! I could not have asked for a better experience! My sole sista had medical issues and the med tent took great care of her! I highly recommend this race! Weather was perfect for us South Louisiana girls! I look forward to returning one day with my hubby!

Kenya's Aron Rono won today's fourth annual Grandma's Minnesota Mile road race in downtown Duluth. Rono, 27, set a course record, finishing in 3 minutes, 58.18 seconds. Rono, who trains in Sante Fe, N.M., claimed the first-place prize of $2,000. Former Winona (Minn.) resident Garrett Heath, now of Palo Alto, Calif., finished second in 3:58.48 and Kenyan Felix Kiboiywo (3:59.33) placed third. Canada's Carmen Hussar, 33, a resident of Ardmore, Pa., claimed the women's division title and $2,000, while also setting a new course record of 4:35.60. Hussar, 33, edged Amy Mortimer, of Leonardville, Kan., who ran 4:36.00.

Elite Field Ready for Grandma's Minnesota Mile

A premier class of one-mile runners is assembled for Sunday's Grandma's Minnesota Mile in downtown Duluth. The Grandma's Minnesota Mile elite division features a $12,500 prize purse with the men's and women's winners each receiving $2,000.

Don't Miss Friday's Park Point 5-Miler

Northern Minnesotas oldest road race the 39th annual Park Point 5-Miler and 2-Mile Walk is Friday, July 16. Online pre-registration is available through 3 p.m. Thursday at GrandmasMarathon.com or YoungAthletesFoundation.com. To sign up on race day, visit the pavilion at the end of Park Point between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. The entry fee for the five-mile run and two-mile walk is $25, while the youth races are free.
