This is a loop course of approximately 6.5 miles per loop. Runners choose to run anywhere between 1 to 4 laps. I did 2 laps (Half Marathon). The vast majority of runners did 1 loop. Having run 10 years in New York City, I can't believe that I have access to real trails right here in NYC! It's a free race and runners can donate if they like. It's a very laidback, friendly, no-stress way to run. True trail running and somewhat tough for this pavement pounder. I probably ran this at least 1 1/2 minutes per mile slower than if I were running on the road.
Not a certified course and results are on the honor system where you sign your finish time in the book. When you finish, you announce your arrival by hitting a giant gong that the RD placed on the finish line. Everyone wears the same bib number which really is an example of the camraderie this race fosters. Love it! This is a fun, community event and I can't believe it's free!!!
