I thought this was a very scenic course for the most part. It was very flat and the weather was perfect if you are interested in a course to set a PR I thought. The organization was excellent, and the aid stations were just about perfect for the weather. This is a very small marathon and there are no spectators to speak of if that is important to you.
What I found intriguing was that Marathon Oil was the main sponsor. For such a nice marathon, I would think the Marathon Oil people would promote this more as it is a very positive PR venue that I would think they would promote compared to all the bad press oil companies typically get.
I walk marathons so started early but had no problems following the course with the arrows and ribbons.
I think this is a diamond in the rough marathon that hopefully will pick up more participants as time goes on.
Stavanger is beautiful, and Pulpit Rock is a great scenic point to visit among others.
