I was not fully fit for this race in 2012 but still enjoyed it.Intend to come back in 2014 to have a better run out. If you want a challenge away from the city marathons this is the one! Looking forward to when I come back in 2014 as it will be my 26th marathon!

Knackering, but I loved it! (about: 2012)

Course was beautiful, amazing scenery and a pleasure to run on this still, sunny day. Wasn't so enthusiastic about it after 22 miles though, as I felt utterly destroyed! Still, pushed on through until the end. Superb organisation and support, water/isotonic stations were always a welcome sight - and spectators handing out jelly babies. Thanks to all involved for a great day.

Hard, hilly, trail running, a real marathon! (about: 2011)

Spectators were few and far between - but the ones that were there had stood in the rain for hours to cheer us on. That's why they get 5 stars. Organised by Steve Cram - well supported, lovely, off-road marathon.

Great trail run. (about: 2011)

An excellent trail route around the huge Kielder Reservoir, gives a full marathon distance with enough hills to make it interesting, without the hills dominating the course.
Running mostly on walking and cycling routes there is little mud, and the course is lumpy enough to keep up the interest. Great views as you progress, even on a drizzly day like this one.
Very well organized, the entry fee is little steep, but worth it when you see the amount of effort that has been put in by the organizers.

Good 1st attempt (about: 2010)

Did the first Kielder; there was a hectic car-parking dilemma but that was the only problem of the day. Slight late start due to parking problem, and then the start with a lovely hill!! Drink stations were plentiful for me with later stations with water and energy drink. Lovely course; at least I knew there were hills with knowing the area and lapping it on the bike at an earlier date. Usual medal and t-shirt goody bag at the end. All in all, a good day, and I hope I get into next year's as well for a better time!!
