"Non-circular marathon on dusty white trails" (about: 2018)

A brilliant and well organised route from Thorpe near Dovedale along the Tissington Trail to Cromford, in Derbyshire. The trails are the old railway tracks, dusty, white and nice to run on. I ran this as my first marathon and loved every minute of it, as it's mainly along rural tracks there weren't many spectators other than the odd couple of people so if you need the atmosphere of a crowd to keep you going this isn't for you. You can have a read of my White Peak marathon experience here.

"Well organized off road marathon." (about: 2015)

A well organized, small field - less than 200 runners,
off road route. Bused from the finish to a remote spot in Derbyshire and then sent off to run back along an old railway line. This is the antithesis of a big city marathon, long remote stretches with only other runners and the rather nice scenery for company. Enough water stations to keep you going, but take some sugary drink or gels if you want calories. Finish at the local rugby club so showers and bar available . In good weather an enjoyable A to B route, worth doing.
