COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 3 I just wanted to review this race a year later because it is a crying shame they weren't able to hold it in 2014. I loved this race. It was really tough, but one of those trail marathons that makes you feel like you really earned it and the views are breathtaking. Pros & cons Pros: 1. After the end of a really tough accent almost straight up about 6 miles, you get the most amazing views of the tetons and the valley below I have ever seen. BRING A CAMERA. I was really upset I didn't bring mine on this race. 2. Really well stocked home base that you keep looping back to 3. Awesome beer from Snake River Brewing Company at the end 4. Free meal ticket to eat at some decent restaurants in the area 5. Breathtaking views 6. Beautiful views 7. Did I mention great views and running through a mountainous forest? 8. Well organized Cons 1. You hit a huge incline at about mile 22. Pretty much stops you dead in your tracks. There are some tough accents in this race including the first 6 miles where you will be hiking for part of it. 2. Big mountain bike race the same weekend (I believe that is why they cancelled it for 2014). You might have to put up with some rude mountain bikers (although some of them were very nice) 3. Tough trail marathons aren't for everyone. Overall great marathon. I really really hope they race it again. It would be a shame to let the mountain bikers kick us off the mountain. I would highly recommend this one. Bring a camera. You won't be disappointed. . . . |
