"Perfect marathon" (about: 2016)
3 previous marathons
| 2 Riga Marathons
COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 4 The marathon was well-organised! Done it for the 2nd time in a raw, and going to do it annually! The course, the organisation and the medal are cool, the expo and starting/finishing bag are a bit poor. But I think it's because of a low starting fee (from 20 eur for half and from 27 for full marathon). But runners run for the experience, not t-shirts and bags, right? The start of the marathon and half-marathon is at 8.30 and 10k and 5k at 12.00 and 14.00. So there is a holiday of running for the whole day in Riga!

COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 3 After having run all the big races, Riga Marathon just seemed so intimately charming. With about 5000 (half-marathon and marathon together) participants, it had a great feeling, lots of good music, a very central course (although I understand Riga is a pretty small ciy, so the course goes out of centre for a moment), and a fabulous organization. I felt very welcome and will certainly be back one day.

"wonderful city, people and race.." (about: 2012)

| 1 Riga Marathon
COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 I loved the small town-like place. People are very warm and friendly. Easy to chill and relax. The race was small compared to others i had run, but very well organised. Weather was OK for racing. The best thing I loved about the race,w as that it had an early start of 8.30am! The organisation was fab. And when i received my medal for 10km, instead of 42km, the organisors immediately posted out the correct 1! How awesome is that? Would run this race again!!x

"Good organization, boring course and no spectators" (about: 2012)
4-5 previous marathons
| 1 Riga Marathon
COURSE: 1 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 1 To be perfectly honest... I didn't like the Riga Marathon... - 10 km & 5 km race where started on the same track as the marathon... This was really disrespectfull for marathon runners. What were they thinking? - The people of Riga didn't seem to care about a marathon in their city. Except for the Vanau Bridge & 11. Novembra Krastmal, there were almost no supporters... I've never experienced something like this. - It was just a pretty boring track, if you ask me... But on the positive side, the organisation was perfect! Also a big thank you to all the volunteers, most of them really were supporting all of the marathon competitors! That really helped!

"A stunning city with a good marathon" (about: 2011)
11-50 previous marathons
| 1 Riga Marathon
COURSE: 2 ORGANIZATION: 4 FANS: 3 Riga is such a beautiful city to visit. The marathon is well-organized and the event is complemented by a 5k,10k & half-marathon race on the same day. Most of the marathon course is on large dual carriageway roads, which is good for a fast time, but also a bit dull & boring. The last kilometer finishes in the 'old-town' with great support. Riga is well worth adding to your 'must-see' city list and the marathon isn't bad either. |
