"Great Course - recommend gators - stay at Mazama" (about: 2012)

Like many of the comments from last year a very runnable course. I do wish I would have wore gators to keep the debris out of my shoes.
The aid stations were well stocked with fluids and cups - since I didn't need more than what I could drink at the stations I ditched the cheap water bottle I brought.
The campers along the course were very supportive but it is a trail run so not alot folks along the course.
I recommend staying at Mazama Lodge to round out the trail run experence - great place, wonderful price and close to race (kinda like camping indoors).

Great trail race on a very runnable trail with a few hills, rocks, and puddles to keep it interesting. My only negative is that there wasn't time to stop and take in the stunning scenery.

"Rugged and beautiful" (about: 2009)

What a beautiful course, despite not getting to start at the Timberline Lodge this year. The spectators are few, but the course ran through several campsites and the campers were some of the most enthusiastic I've ever seen. This race is not for whiny wimps, as aid stations are few, but this is one of the most fun I've done. I highly recommend it!

"I'll probably never run another road marathon!!" (about: 2008)

From the very start of the race, the views are spectacular! Because it's single track trail the entire way, you start one at a time about every 3-5 seconds. The trail is pretty technical and the surroundings are distracting... so watch your step!! The only issue I noticed was that the 3rd of only 4 aid stations was out of everything. But you are required to be self-sufficient for this event. I would also say to add an hour to your road marathon time and you'll be pretty close to your finish for this event. Very nice finisher's medals and fresh fruit and massage at the finish. I will run this event every year until I can no longer run!

"Nice/tough run" (about: 2007)

Nice race. Tough course with a lot of downhill running to start, a lot of rolling hills through the middle, and a very rocky/rooted surface. In spite of a couple of falls and some wasp stings, I had a good time (it was also my slowest marathon to date).
