My third consecutive full in Treherne. It was hot & hilly, but the addition of the showers en route & at the end was really great this year. The scenic course and water station support were superb, as always. On-site camping makes it easy to get to the start line. Well worth the drive!

I will be back next year absolutely beautiful :) (about: 2011)

Great Country Run (about: 2010)

I ran the full Treherne Marathon last week and enjoyed the unique country feel. For a race run on gravel/grid roads, it was extremely well marked with plenty of aid stations. Hills made for a tough course that kept the participants honest. Strong west wind from miles 14 to 18 were devastating. Races like this are special, because they are a rare treat. Thank you, Treherne.

Better still! (about: 2010)

Did I really say, "rolling terrain?" I must have missed those hills last year.... But again, great scenery and great support. Add to that a PB and Boston Qualifying time, and it makes a lovely run even sweeter. Thanks so much to the volunteers and organizers.

GREAT SMALL-TOWN EVENT; SUPERB ORGANIZATION (about: 2010)

First Marathon

I ran the 1/2 marathon portion of this marathon event on the 12th of September, 2010 and was completely satisfied with everything. It wasn't too big (I think around 250 for the 1/2). There was a definite small-town feel and a whole lot of spirit to have around. All of the volunteers were great and eager to speak with you. Take this event in if you want to try something a little off the beaten path, are willing to incorporate hills into your run, and if you want to have an all around good time.

An excellent half-marathon (done it twice) (about: 2010)

Treherne is a great little race. It is far enough out of the way that you don't get the 10,000+ racers that you get at the Manitoba Marathon but close enough to Winnipeg and Brandon that if you live in Manitoba, you can easily get there. Hills are a killer (the first two are, anyway) if you do your training exclusively on the flat prairies, but nothing that you cannot handle if you do a bit of hill work in preparation (or are willing to walk a bit on the run). I only run half-marathons, so I cannot comment on the full course, but the half course is great. Because it is out of the way and in the country, the spectators are sparse, but it is a nice little jaunt in the country. Also, because it usually only has a few hundred participants, you will run most of the race with only a few people around you (again, in contrast to the Manitoba Marathon). I've always found the race well organized, although, I think that they could upgrade to a chip system for timing, rather than having to have your number visible at the end in order to be identified.

an amazing race (about: 2010)

I ran the full Treherene Marathon today and I needed to thank the wonderful people of Treherne for their hard work and dedication. I was overwhelmed by the beautiful scenery. The people couldn't have been any friendlier and I will certainly be coming back next year.

That big hill almost killed me! Lol! (about: 2009)

A great race with unreal rolling hills. The course was well marked every mile with either a marker or a water station. The only thing that is needed is to have more than one porta-potty at the start when everyone is trying to go just before the race. Other than that, excellent.

A very pleasant race, and a very scenic course (about: 2009)

I see why people come back year after year. Unpretentious, with rolling terrain but nothing heartbreaking (two small hills in the first 8 miles), it's a gorgeous trot through the fields at harvest, with a lot of very friendly folks in Treherne who've made it all happen. The heat was the hardest part (in 2009). We could have used ice in the last half, or sponges soaking in water; but the stations were plentiful and well-served. I'd love to come back and do it again!
