"Great Boston Qualifier South of the Equator" (about: 2011)
1 previous marathon
| 1 Maratón de Guayaquil
COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 4 FANS: 3 Ran the Guayaquil Marathon for the first time in 2011. Generally flat and attractive course. Like many tropical marathons it starts before sun rise to avoid the heat, but it is warm, although water/Gatorade stations are every kilometer. It also has less than 1000 runners, so crowds are never a problem. | |

"This is great marathon in South America" (about: 2006)
11-50 previous marathons
| 1 Maratón de Guayaquil
COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 4 FANS: 1 The place to pick up the bib number and runner's package is a little bit difficult to find when you are foreign, but fortunately, the race director is always available to help everybody, even by cellular. They have the best pasta dinner in the world in a first-class restaurant called El Gran Chef, including all kind of salads and also sushi! And it's free for the event's participants. The course is mainly flat and beautiful, passing - for the most - attractive parts of the city. Streets are fully blocked for cars and the army troops secured the street all the way. This event is new, but in the near future it will be the most important marathon in South America. Enjoy it! |
