The course was scenic and mostly trails. The organization was perfect. The spectators were just right. Great job!!

If it wasn't the best marathon experience, it was definitely top 3. From registration (no stupid hidden 'registration fee')through post-race festivities & food, it was top notch. I'll vouch for all the positive comments from previous years here. The only possible complaint that some runners could have is the fact that it is 4 loops and you pass many of the same points 8 times during the race. I didn't mind, but I guess that could be a concern to some. But to me, it never got old or repetitive. Highly recommended!
C. L. from Florida (3/23/2015) "Absolute best" (about: 2015) 11-50 previous marathons \| 1 Seabrook Lucky Trail Marathon COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 This is the best marathon I have ever run. And I have run 26. It has a great vibe. The trail is often narrow and you do frequently run facing other runners, but your name is on your bib. Because it is a 4 loop course you see the same runners and volunteers often. So your fellow runners encourage you on. The same is true for the volunteers. As a plus the announcer calls out your name and home area each time you complete a loop. Plus the food is great: chicken sandwiches, hamburgers, beans & rice, water, green beer, soda, ice cream and much more. Plus there is enough for everybody. It is perfect for the whole family. Great food at the race and great food/lodging in the Galveston Bay area. The crushed stone course is forgiving to your legs as a final bonus. The course is flat with nice water views. There are some faster courses but once in a while treat yourself to a fun race.

(about: 2015) 11-50 previous marathons \| 1 Seabrook Lucky Trail Marathon COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 Overall I loved the race experience. Had an excellent weekend trip down to Texas and had a ball! The good... -Course was 4 approx. 6.5 mile loops on very well maintained trails; I believe the trails (instead of concrete roads as many races) led to me feeling better the day after the race; I found that I completely enjoyed the 4 loop course. In many marathons with a small field, it can feel very isolated. I loved that with the loops there were always runners around, the few fans out you passed by multiple times. I know some would not like the multiple loop course, but I personally found that I loved it! Also, course had some beautiful aspects; the sun rise on the water that first loop was beautiful. -Having packet pickup morning of the race-outstanding!....and it was very easy -Great swag, nice socks, cool shirt, nice hat, cool swag bag, I was impressed. -Fun medal. -Nice selection of food pre and post race. -The cool 50 states contest where 1 marathoner from each state gets their registration fee back. I have to say I registered thinking I had a good shot with a small field and coming from a long way away. -Nice pre race area under a pavilion for runners before the start. -Plenty of port a potties. -Being a northerner after a horrible winter, the pleasant weather (upper 50s at start, lower 60s when I finished, sun under clouds sometimes, slight breeze at times) was absolutely outstanding. -Race results posted very promptly. Easy parking race morning. -Close proximity to NASA Johnson Space Center, I've always wanted to see it, and I did on Saturday-and it was amazing! -Race personnel and volunteers were friendly, cheerful, and excellent! -Plentiful aid stops with friendly, cheerful volunteers. -A lot of runners out dressed up in fun costumes for St. Pattys Day. -Folks from a local place giving post race stretches/massage, etc. -My PR time! Woo hoo! The bad -They've had a lot of rain-kind of muddy in spots in the pre-race area. The ugly -Can't think of anything Overall, I simply say this race was the foundation of my excellent long weekend in Dallas and Houston visiting Texas for only the 2nd time, and I enjoyed everything about the weekend and the race.

B. from Houston, TX (3/20/2014) "Great race, great course, well run event" (about: 2014) 11-50 previous marathons \| 1 Seabrook Lucky Trail Marathon COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 3 Not much more to add to all the great comments below...this is a great event. The crushed gravel course is wonderful and the views along Galveston Bay are perfect. Sure, the weather was a bit rough this year (rain and t-storms after the first loop) and made for a muddy course, but I thought it added to the fun. As it states on the web site, this is a narrow course with some tight turns and two way running traffic. It can be a bit crowded in spots (but isn't too bad in most areas). Not the best place to BQ or PR. Spectators are mostly confined to the start/finish area, but you will find enthusiastic volunteers at water stops, and see supportive runners for the length of the 4 loop course. Post race is great with lots of food, drinks and green beer. Good swag with a nice hat and tech tee...great (large) finisher medal. This race is a great break from the 'standard' marathon format. Ranks in my top 3 for sure.

(about: 2013) 11-50 previous marathons \| 1 Seabrook Lucky Trail Marathon COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 3 The course is 4 loops on primarily crushed limestone trail. It can get a little crowded at first but surprisingly didn't get too boring. The support on the course was tremendous. There are water stops about every mile and a half with water, gatorade, fruit, and gels. Not many spectators, but you can see your supporters at the end of each loop. All of my gripes are self-inflicted, like 'I should have trained more, I should weigh less, etc' and have nothing bad to say about this nice little race. This was my 30th state.

(about: 2013) 6-10 previous marathons \| 2 Seabrook Lucky Trail Marathons COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 3 No one could have done anything about the heat and humidity...but please save green beer so that every finisher gets some! After 4 loops I was really looking forward to that treat. The food was wonderful, as always, but a cold beverage was what I craved. Please also consider starting the marathon at 0700, the relay teams at 0715 and the half marathon at 0730 (on Sunday) just to give the marathoners some space before the trails get really crowded.
