I did this marathon on a trip to Europe. I was well trained for it, and fortunately included some hill work in my training. It paid. The weather was perfect, the course was gorgeous. We ran partly on groomed trails and dirt roads, and pavement. There were good aid stations with Coca Cola, malt beer, and seltzer water. I was not prepared for carbonated drinks only, but it was OK. There were about 190 participants, and about 30 of these were women. I liked how low-key the event was, yet well organized. Diplomas came out an hour after the race was over. As in many small European marathons, the overall quality of the runners is higher than in the US, and anyone running 5+ hours should count on being alone.
