It`s a typical, small, Dutch marathon. The unique characteristic is that the route is almost a series of concentric circles that allow runners to take part in either a 5K, 10K, half, 30K and marathon. It starts in, finishes in and continually passes through a beautiful little village. Then it goes off on several rural circular routes.
The number of runners diminishes quite significantly as the distance of the races grow. There are probably around 1,000 runners in total, with about 100 ultimately finishing the full marathon.
Overall, an enjoyable (and very well priced) marathon that is politely marshalled. Refreshments were a little sparse for what was a hot day in 2009, being available every 5-6K. It`s disappointing that was absolutely nothing - food, isotonic drinks or even water - at the end of the marathon. A small (and addressable) complaint for an otherwise great little event.
