Flat Course, Great Race Director (about: 2008)

This small race begins and ends in a pretty state park, and is basically flat through residential areas with little traffic. The water stops are fine and the post-race food is good. However, the key is Bob Green, who is the most accommodating race director ever. If you have an early flight, there is an early start. If you are running late, no problem. I've run 7 of his races, and recommend them.

Tough race but satsifying (about: 2005)

Well, drove for 17 hours! Ran for 4 hours and I made it back in 16 hours. Let's see... sideways rain, trees recently cleared from the road, driving rain. Hmmm. would I run it again? You bet. Bob was very patient and I had no problem finding the race. Thank God you didn't cancel! Will I run it again? Absolutely. Thanks to the volunteers who stood out in the rain and gave us directions. By the way - this is my first comment in 16 marathons.

would not recommend it (about: 2005)

Well, the weather started out bad (raining sideways and wind blowing hard), so can't blame anybody but Mother Nature on that one. However, I couldn't find any information on who this race is benefiting except for 'Bob Green.' The race was very small-scale (fewer than 40 runners, if that many). Running along the side of the road could be dangerous. No sport drinks at the end, chilli is from a can... not impressed with the food afterwards. I would not display my medal to anyone cuz it's 'ghetto' and the tee-shirt... Different distance run (5k, 10k...) all based on where you should turn around on a one way course. (BORING!) This is my 2nd 1/2 marathon and didn't get the same feeling as my first (Victoria, BC). There were no people cheering along the course or at the finish line. I could've run on my own and donate the money ($40) to a charity instead. Save your $$ if you are thinking of doing this run.

Fun Race with Family Atmoshere!!! (about: 2002)

Fun Race with every finisher receiving an Easter Medal and Trophy. Lots of postrace food, chili, turkey sandwiches, bananas and other junk food. Aide stations had water, gatorade and Cliff shots. Really enjoyed the atmoshere and the friendly volunteers at the finish. If you want to run a race and not be lost in the numbers, this race is for you.

It was a good training run (about: 2002)

My main issue with this event is that the course turned out to be out and back twice. It was tremendously boring and none of the roads were blocked off. The shoulder was narrow and everytime a car drove by, I braced myself for the noise and wind. The race was well organized and the aid stations were frequent. I was informed that there would be gu and bananas at every aid station and there was only gatorade and water (one aid station had fruit leather). The mile markers were not exact. Other than that it was a fine event.
