The 15th edition took place on a chilly and windy day of March. Despite this, organizers provided perfect organization: shuttle bus from the train station to the start (near the stadium), plenty of room to dress, and lots of showers. Heated tents in piazza cavalli (arrival) to change (you can ask for some of your clothes to be carried to the finish line) and then a bus back to the stadium. There you find hot showers and some lunch.
No cars on the course, and the number of officials is amazing.

The course is almost flat, but not impressive: the first part is inside the city, and then you head south through really long straights in the middle of nowhere, especially in the end (from 34K to 40K, it's a straight line).

To sum up, excellent organization, good course for a PB, and an opportunity to do some good (every year they donate 60,000 euros to UNICEF).

FANTASTIC (about: 2008)

Great and efficient organization. There were soldiers, policemen (municipal, regional and national) at each road or crossroad; three fighters from the Italian air force flew over the crowd in a charming ballet, giving us thrills for over two hours; and I was the last one to complete it, in 5:30, but I was accompanied by three ambulances and an official's car (they did not just close the race after 5 hours, leaving me on my own). The race, for the first 10K, takes place in the city, and then there are 30K in the countryside - though never on the same road!! Beautiful landscape and medieval villages. I recommend this marathon to every runner!!!!!
