This is a great marathon if you want fantastic scenery and aren't bothered about running a fast time. It's an undulating course with some dirt sections (new in 2008) and a highlight is the small town at the 24K mark. There is wine at many of the drink stops, although I didn't see any runners having any, and you get two bottles of Luberon wine at the finish, with a label printed especially for the marathon.

Terrific race - wine but no medal (about: 2007)

Loved the course in this race - through the Provence countryside. Finishes at a castle in La Tour d'Aigues. All marathon finishers get two bottles of Luberon wine - but surprisingly, no medals. The race starts with horses leading the runners out of the Pertuis Stadium. The entertainment at the finish is great. Many of the runners get into dressing up. This year 3 guys dressed as chimney sweepers won for their costumes.

Nice family event (about: 2006)

I really enjoyed this countryside marathon. There were also a half-marathon and 10-KM run, as well as walking - both for half-marathon and 10 KM. Course was a little bit hilly through vineyards. Many of the participants were dressed in masks and acting joyful. Plenty to drink (including white and red wine) and eat.
