A Runner from Ann Arbor, MI, USA (1/28/01)
I intended to run this as a training run but things were going so well, I just went all out and set a new PR. The course is nice - rolling but gentle, but the scenery is a little sparse. But if you need good scenery, you're not concentrating enough on your running, I say! Organization was great and everything went smoothly. The start at the convention center is always a good thing. Spectators were sparse but the ones that were there were gung-ho! Volunteers, as all volunteers are, were heaven sent. This is overall a great little event. It's not a 'desitnation' marathon, but if you live anywhere within driving distance, or like smaller marathons, seriously consider this one! The finisher's mug was really a nice touch. And with the small size, us slower runners might even be able to place in an age group! I will do this again this year. I LOVE the intimacy of small marathons and think they all deserve more support!
