I am very impressed by how organized and well run everything was considering this was the first year! I couldn't stay for the party afterwards but everything sounded fun! Congratulations on a great race! Well done!

The organizers handled some potentially tricky logistical issues very well. I ran the half and the pre-race and start were handled magnificently. The Teach for America participants and volunteers were great. The city of Greenville was very hospitable. Next year I'd like to see them spruce up vacant buildings on Washington Street (downtown G'ville). But other than that, no suggestions. I wouldn't be surprised if participation doubled next year. This will be a race elite and weekend runners will want on their schedule.

I am from Greenville, and I was so excited to have a race there! For a first time race, the organizers did a super job. The organization was great. There was plenty of food for all runners. I loved the medals and the dri fit shirts! It was also nice to be able to pick up packets for our friends as well as pick up packets the morning of the race. Many races do not allow you to pick up packets the morning of. The stretch on Highway 82 after the bridge was a bit boring. It would help to really pack in supporters on that stretch to make it better. I would also like to see a bigger 'expo', but that will come with more participants. Overall, great job, and I'm looking forward to participating next year. It can only get better.

The only reason I rated Spectators at 3 stars is just due to number. And that's to be understood with this being the first year. But the spectators who turned out were FANTASTIC! I doubt they understand how much they add to a marathon (or, in my case, half-marathon) experience. I thought it was great! Cold, but great! I sure hope to be back next year!!! P.S. I wasn't sure how to answer some of these questions because I WALKED the half-marathon. Don't forget...some participants are walkers! :-)

MS River Marathon, in its inaugural year, blew away every large race I've done. From pre-race email communication to post-race party, this was a top-notch race run so smoothly you'd think it was the 100th running, not the 1st. Start line logistics - plenty of buses, easy parking, no hassle. Finish line - plenty of food and fluids, lots of space, easy gear bag pick up, and the party was just starting. Along the course - gorgeous scenery, aid stations and port-a-potties every mile, and local spectators out yelling for the runners. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

I grew up in Cleveland, MS, so running this race in the Delta was like coming home for me. The race was very well-organized in every way. Only minor concerns: felt like more visible signs were needed at mall for packet pick-up; a police officer let an 18-wheeler turn in front of me & I had to come to a complete stop. Other than those 2 very small issues, it was a super race & I enjoyed myself immensely....Will definitely do it again & encourage others to run it, too!

This was a great overview of the Mississippi River Delta region. It's flat..I mean, really flat. Mild weather and perfectly organized. Everything was well thought out and planned. I'll be there next year

Thoroughly enjoyed the inaugural race. Weather was cold with gusting wind so spectators were light. Might have been that way anyway because it's not a highly populated area. Nice point-to-point route along Lake Chicot, across the Mississippi River, and some beautiful parts of Greenville. More on course entertainment would be nice and hopefully they'll have more as the race grows. The only bad thing was the water. It was brown. I had a friend running who couldn't keep it down. I drank only gatorade from mile 3 to 23 (when I accidentally took water from a volunteer.) The food and drinks at the finish line were fantastic. Another nice touch would be to have hot coffee available at the start. Not sure if this is possible as far out as it is, but it sure would be nice. Still, great race with great organization benefiting a great cause. I'll be back!

This was their first marathon and it could probably not have gone any better. I drove from Atlanta to Greenville so that I could get my third marathon in 90 days (now a Marathon Maniac). I was not disappointed. The course was what I wanted, flat (well except the bridge). The temperature was perfect, a pretty strong breeze in my face for miles 8 through 13. The water stops were basically every mile, the volunteers were very supportive, the finish line food and drink was plentiful. I really liked the shirt and medal. Not really an expo, but it is a small marathon. Fun running over the Mississipppi River. Great Job!!
