Never run a marathon before this one, but I thought it was great. The people were nice and it went off without a hitch.

Amazing experience! (about: 2012)

I had a great time doing the half-marathon. The race was very well-organized, the supporters were great, and the Texas A&M campus was really nice to run through. Had enough water stops and multiple (not just one!) portables at several parts of the race. I would run this race again in a heartbeat.

The only issues I had were the lack of toilet paper in the portables before the race (I forgot to bring my own, so bring yours just in case!) and long food lines after the race. Everything worked out well though.

I've run 6 different marathons and this is probably the 1st or 2nd one I'd most want to rerun (especially in less tropical conditions). The course is a loop that takes you through a nice mix of neighborhoods, wooded areas, and A&M campus. It has gradual inclines and subsequant declines that allow the legs to use different muscles w/out the damage done by steeper hills. Most importantly, it's fairly evident that the race organizer is, or has been, a runner. The attention to detail exhibited, from pre-race communications to the expo to race day, is second to none. And I've never seen a race organizer stand at the finish line and greet every finisher. It was beyond classy. The volunteers were fantastic and as encouraging as any I've seen. The only drawback is that this was very light in terms of spectators. But if you're looking for a small race with a great course and a race organizer that knows every step you're about to take, I couldn't think of a better one than BCS.

Absolutely incredible race from start to finish! (about: 2012)

First Marathon

I may be a little biased as this was my first full marathon but I can't think of anything that could have been done better! I have run three other half distance marathons prior and enjoyed them all but this event was by far my favorite. I had a wonderful experience from registration to finish line. Thank you for a very memorable first marathon weekend experience!!!

This was my 10th marathon, and first time running a smaller race (less than 1,000 for the marathon, 3500 overall). It is only their 2nd year, but it is very well managed and organized. I was very impressed with the team's passion, and personal touches with numerous email, facebook and twitter updates leading up to the race. Unlike some bigger races, I felt very 'connected' to the event and its charities. The course itself was diverse - some rolling hills, flat spaces, etc. Crowd support is small but enthusiastic. I would encourage it for anyone looking for a change from a big city marathon - the people of College Station/Bryan are wonderful, and welcoming, and it was a fun weekend overall.

No sophomore slump here! Year two was awesome. (about: 2012)

I ran this in year one and again this year (year two) and they really upped their game. It was already a fun race, but the organizers and volunteers have turned it into a truly wonderful experience.

Very well executed marathon (about: 2012)

This was my second marathon. I wanted to try a smaller marathon, and this was a smaller one, but it was handled like a bigger marathon. The organization of the race was fantastic! The communication from the director was amazing. The support was incredible, from the volunteers at the aid stations and medical stations to the police officers who were directing traffic. It was a very well executed race and I will definitely try to run it again.

Best Marathon I Ever Ran In (about: 2012)

4-5 previous marathons | 1 Bryan/College Station Marathon

I've run in many of the big name marathons, but this was the best. The set-up was great and even though I did not need the services, I never seen so much medical support at any race. With the unseasonal high temps, having the water stations at every 1.5 miles and the cold towels was great. The organization and city was great. The race course was also nice; the fact that family and friends could be with you around the finish area and not be charge was great. Most of the time they corral runners and family and friends have to pay to be with you. Cannot wait until next year I will be back, and will tell everyone about the great time I had so they will want to come also. GREAT JOB!

Outstanding for a first timer (about: 2012)

This was my first half marathon so I had no idea what to expect. I fear that I am now spoiled and will be disappointed with every other race I enter. The course was clearly marked, the aid stations were great and the spectators were amazing. Great first experience and will definitely be back next year.

I cannot say enough about this marathon in its second year. It was very well organized. The RD communicated very well all throughout from the beginning up to the last day. The staff and volunteers were excellent. The medical staff A++. The swag was excellent. I would definitely run it again every year.
