Great alternative to Chicago Marathon (about: 2012)

Race all around was great! In comparison to the Chicago Marathon, totally different experience. Was concerned about the small town feel, but turned out that the small town feel was overall better than the big city marathon. Best part, family in support want to be involved next year and this race should be a fixture on our calendar for years to come!

Fantastic Race (about: 2012)

Really enjoyed the course with the nicest views! Calm and not overcrowded. Best race I ever did.

The Fox Valley Marathon was again a huge success. (about: 2012)

The Fox Valley Marathon was extremely well organized; emails, packet pickup, enough porta-potties, everything. One small change I would make is to add 'water' & 'gatorade' signs at stops so that it is as easy as possible for runners to get what they need. The volunteers were fantastic.

What a great experience, I'll be back in 2013! (about: 2012)

As a resident of St. Charles I am so proud that I chose the Fox Valley Half Marathon as my first half marathon. The course was amazing, the people were so kind and helpful. This is on my list for 2013 and will be for quite some time.

Top notch for a small marathon (about: 2012)

I wanted to run the Chicago Marathon with my wife, but the race filled up too quickly, so we signed up for Fox Valley, since she needed Illinios (50 states). I would higly recommend this race if you are like me and don't care for the megaraces. The course is slightly rolling (not as flat as advertised!) and there is a bit of street running with traffic in the first few miles. There are also some trail stretches that are quite narrow, but these were minor issues. The scenery and support more than make up for it. There was also a problem near the halfway point in Aurora where several of us marathon runners missed our turn and ended up behind a bandstand, so we lost a minute or 2 on our time. I'd still run this one again!

The race was the perfect size for the course, well organized, and very runner focused. There were plenty of volunteers, water stations and the course was gorgeous. I loved the race size, not too crowded. I was very impressed.

perfect course, incredible organization (about: 2012)

From signup to finish, the Fox Valley Marathon was incredible.

The course followed the Fox River most of the time, had beautiful scenery and was overall very flat.

The organization was better than any I'd ever seen. Practice runs on the actual course were offered in the weeks leading up to the event. Water stops were plentiful on the course. Race officials were at every turn making sure people went where we needed. People were out through the whole course offering encouragement.

I ran the half and everything about the race was fantastic. The pre-race communication was frequent and useful, the course layout was scenic and the volunteers and fans were fantastic.
I would do it again.

Great race! Would do again. (about: 2012)

Everything about this race was superior: volunteers, support, medal, announcer at finish line. The only constructive feedback I would offer is the last loop on the half marathon through Mound St. Mary's Park was tough. You could see the finish line but had to run another loop. Would have liked that earlier in the race.
