It was a beautiful course and the organization was fabulous. But nothing beat the volunteers and spectators. As I trudged along those last few miles, with every muscle fiber screaming for help, those wonderful, selfless people just kept me going, with smiles and words of encouragement. Bless them! And thank you! Thank you so very much. Oh, and BQ!!!!!!

I appreciate that The Fox Valley Marathon Races offer three distances. Twice now, I've run the Final Fall 20, to prepare for the Chicago Marathon. I've also run the half-marathon distance. As I runner I've been well-informed, and felt safe, encouraged, and well-directed on the course. Friendly, efficient, and fun...such a great race!

Great course, very organized, plenty of room, shaded for the majority of the run, enthusiastic water stops. Second time running and plan on coming back again!

Even if it wasn't a PR, which it was by too much to admit, the spectators and volunteers were more than awesome!!

First Marathon
Very scenic course and a very well organized race. Marshalls at every intersection and fork. Well-manned and well-spaced aid stations. Wave start insured uncrowded racing, though it did take over 15 minutes for my group to start. Loved the finisher's medal!

This was a rolling bunny hill course and we were told it was totally flat. This may not interest most marathon runners but when you have a hip issue it can only take so many hills and I went out fast and fell flat at 13. Not flat!

The course along the river was nice. Some areas going up and off the trail were a little twisty and had some obstacles to watch out for. The wave starts helped with congestion. Plenty of aide stations, but could have used some GU. Swag was good, expo was small. Parking garages filled quickly, but we found parking a few blocks away.

Awesome race, had fun and was VERY impressed with the spectator support throughout the whole course! HOWEVER, there were some issues at some of the water stations; since I was running with a Pace Group, there were times when there weren't enough volunteers at each station to hand out water/Gatorade to each member of our group. I went through 2 or 3 stations where I couldn't get fluids because there weren't enough volunteers handing it out quickly enough.

Late last year I decided I needed more of a challenge then the Ironman triathlons I had been doing and decided on a 50 miler..after completely that I decided to do all 50 states before I was 50 as well as more 50 milers and eventually Umstead 100 in April. I found Northface Challenge in Wisconsin the day before this and decided to do both state in the 2 days so was one big trip. When I was sent wrong on the course the in Wisconsin and ended up doing a 50K instead of a mary I was so concerned about finishing this race but with the A+ support of the volunteers I did it! Thanks for a wonderful race! Gorgeous course and very well organized and ran. Never seen so many medic at the aid stations either....they helped me tape my toe nails back on that popped off from the day before trail 50k :-)
