Some kinks need worked out for next year... (about: 2010)

Some of the miles were mis-marked, which was a little frustrating. Sometimes the trail got too congested. The computer system was down at the end of race. I was not able to find out about or get my award (if I won one). Some kinks need to be worked out in race. It might be helpful to drop the cost of race a little, or offer discounts to returning runners.

Flat, well-shaded, scenic course. Terrific organization made this awesome course a joy. Well-stocked and manned aid stations (even for us back-of-the-pack runners) complete with enthusiastic, cheering volunteers.
If you are looking for a no-hassle race, this is it. Hotels, restruants, parking were blocks away. No need to get up hours before the race for logistical reasons.
The course along the Fox river was beautiful, with very few street crossings or traffic. The course is an old train line, once a dirt path, now black-topped and very safe and smooth. If you like hills, avoid this race. It runs along the river with nothing but a few bumps for inclines, and is 98% flat.
This course is so scenic and beautiful that you will forget you are in a metro-plex with 9 million other people. It is the antithesis of "The Chicago Marathon" with all the conveniences of the big city.
If you are a first-time marathoner or an experienced runner looking for something different from "big city" crowds, here you go. This race is well-supported, with many enthusiastic aid stations, and it will impress you with its support system.
This is a race you definitely want to put on your "bucket list."

I ran the Fall 20 mile which is perfect timing for the Chicago Marathon on 10/10/10. This race was well organized and worth the time. Not much of an after event party though. Maybe next year.

The volunteers were fantastic, friendly and helpful. At one water station (that we passed twice), a volunteer offered to refill the water bottle I was carrying, and then took my bottle, grabbed a one-gallon jug, sprinted along the sideline while filling my bottle and stopped about ten yards ahead of me to hand it back to me as I passed by. The crew at the finish line also took exceptionally good care of me. The course was beautiful and, as much of it was on trails, there were no traffic issues, that I could see. Even though it was mostly a trail run and a small race, the spectators turned out in force and were enthusiastic. This was the best marathon I have run, and while I didn't like training in summer heat for it, I will run this race again.

The Fox Valley Marathon was an awesome race! I cannot say anything bad about my experience, and if I am able, then I'll be back next year! Thanks to everyone who put this race together! You would never know it was the inaugural year!

This was a great small town marathon. The combined cap for the full, 20 miler and half was 1100. About 900 actually finished. Though the course was tight in many areas I think with the wave start the cap could be increased by another 500 or so. The Fox River running/bike path makes for a great course providing lots of shade if it's warm and sunny. Although a few mile markers were significantly off, the course was well marked and marshalled otherwise with plenty of aid stations. The volunteers were great and supportive as was a pretty good spectator turnout. The finish line set-up and village were well donw. Thank you to the organizers and sponsors for a great event. Please do it again next year.

A perfect race for anyone! Flat, great scenery, lots of spots for fans to see runners, and enthusiastic course guides. Race Director spent about 5 minutes with me after asking what I thought and congratulating... great guy! Set a PR and had a great time!

They started taking the course down before the 6:30 finish time, so I got lost in the last 1.5 miles. Crowd support was very limited. I will not run this race again.
