This was my first marathon to run, and I had a great experience. I was surprised how flat the course was (relatively), considering that Cork has many hills. My favorite section was along the Lee River in Blackrock. It was well organized for a first-time event, and I'mm sure it will improve again. It only took a few miles for me to find my rhythm, and there was no need to worry about overcrowding. There was good support in the city and suburban centers, as well as relay changing points. Other sections were fairly quiet, but it didn't bother me. There is a long, straight stretch for maybe 4 miles or so near the end that was challenging, but I was tiring also. You're on a perfect running surface for the majority of it. There's a good buzz in the city later on, also. It's well worth a run.
