The course was 50-60% shaded. gradual rolling hills, great enthusiastic volunteers, lots of police along the route, not too big, just right. The course was accurately measured and timed and was a Boston qualifier. A great run!

Very impressively organized for an inaugural event! I plan to return next year even though I ran it as a training run for the NYC Marathon; the support along the way from the volunteers encouraged me all the way to the finish line. My only complaint: I wish the marathon medal was a little more distinctive than the half marathon. For twice the effort, it would be nice to have something different other than the ribbon color. Overall, this was a great experience and I will highly recommend the Hamptons Marathon to my fellow runners for next year.

This was one of the most diversified courses I have run. Had everything from shaded road to ocean-side running. There are hills, but of the gentle rolling nature.

Great volunteers with plenty of water and Gatorade. The food at the finish was O.K. but nothing special. It was a nice day but I wondered what they would of done if the weather wasn't so great. We used the shuttle and it worked just fine.

They only major problem is the traffic. I watched a few cars come very close to runners. I don't know how this can be fixed and still have the scenic course. I did notice a lot of police cars on the course, which I thought was good. I would have given the course 5 stars, but the traffic situation made me give it a four. Not a lot of spectators, but the ones that were out there did a great job.

Overall this has a lot of potential. Keep it small and scenic and you'll have a keeper. Great for first-time marathoners who don't want to be just a number.

I ran the half, my sister the full. I was apprehensive since it was the first year they put it on, but I must say everything (except the wind!) was flawless. I never ran in such a small race and it was wonderful to have no lines for bag check, packet pickup, race food, etc. Starting near the front with no pace markers was fun too! And not having to skip around people to keep a stride was great. Too bad the wind that day was howling - otherwise everything would have been perfect. The course was nice with some rolling hills, but some great, long declines too. Not too many spectators but that doesn't bother me. I hope to run it again next year.

Kudos to the folks who thought this up and pulled it off. Low-key event in a high-key location. Well planned and executed from the number pick-up through the post-race refreshments. Nothing fancy but they got the import things just right. Plus, perfect weather for a run.

The following comments are not real complaints - just suggestions for next year.

The finisher medals were really bad - about the size of a key chain link and they looked like a token from a kids' 1K.

This one is really petty. Thanks for the GU but please tell the folks not to pre-open the packets. The GU ended up everywhere except my mouth. Not fun to run the final 10 miles with shirt, shorts and legs.

Big picture: Great job. Looking forward to Year 2.

Diane and Amanda really did it! A fine inaugural marathon on eastern Long Island! Supremely well organized, good course with rolling hills, loads of food at the finish, first-class timing and awards by finish line road race technicians, few spectators and good weather rounded out a fine running experience. Very much worth doing this race! It will definitely be bigger next year!

I was looking for a good training run for NYC and found it. Excellent organization: water/Gatorade stations are plentiful and the fans with the cowbells were amusing. The course was excellent: gradual hills with slight incline, most of the course is in the shade, there are small pockets of sea wind that are more refreshing than anything else, and the scenery is "sea worthy." This race blows away the other local pre-NYC Marathons: Yonkers & Westchester. Thanks for the ride.
