I've previously done the full and relay, but ran the half marathon for the first time this year. I have a new favorite half marathon course! Baylor campus, river, the zoo, Cameron Park- it's all great!

This is without a doubt my favorite half marathon. The course is challenging but worth it. It's a course with beautiful scenery. Cameron Park is great and running through the zoo seeing the animals makes this race unique. The race always seems to go off without a hitch. The spectators/supporters are unsurpassed. They were everywhere on the course with not just water but bananas, oranges, frozen fruit, protein bars, cookies and lots more. One gentleman was even driving along the course passing out Cliff bars. The after party can't be beat, fajitas, beer & margaritas! These people know how to put on a race.

What a great way to show off the Heart of Texas. It was a perfect course to show the best sites of Waco.

This was my first half marathon, and I trained quite a bit for it, but my goodness I completely forgot about the hills. The trail had many hills, heck they were like mini mountains, or at least felt so. It was tough pushing through it all but I never stopped to walk and never stopped period! The trail was beautiful. One of the most scenic views I have seen in a long time. The whole run left me wanting more, and I can't wait to do it again next year, tho this time the full marathon :)

Race T-shirt and Finisher Pullover (about: 2013)

No where on the race T-shirt was the word, 'marathon.' It only said, 'Toughest in Texas, Miracle Match, No Bull.' Poor design. If this was my first marathon, I would really be upset. People who run a marathon want it on the shirt.
I gave my marathon finisher pullover away. Nice pullover, but it had some quote in small lettering about hills and idiot and then marathon finisher. Why not just 'Finisher, 2013 Miracle Match Marathon, Waco, Texas?'

Tough Course with little entertainment. (about: 2013)

The course is definitely tough but nice scenery. It was lacking in entertainment/spectators throughout the course. We did take our pic with the Bush's chicken mile 22!!

Tough fun course (about: 2013)

This was tough course, comparable to the hills of the San Francisco Marathon. I enjoyed running through the local zoo. The organization was good. The race was small so it was never too crowded, even at the start. The volunteers were all great. The only downside was that there weren't many people out on the course cheering. It's too bad the local community doesn't support such a nice race.

Every hill in TX is on this course! (about: 2013)

Woo....I have run some very challenging courses and this one now ranks in the top 3! I had no idea TX had 1. hills and 2. this many in one place! The heat on race day did not make the course any easier either. I was incredibly grateful to the fella who stayed late at the race expo and sold 'extreme cooling towel's. I run terrible in heat and knowing race day was going to be warm I purchased one. It is THE BEST item I've ever used in a marathon! It cooled me down and KEPT me cool for seven miles (to the finish line)!

Pros: race organization was excellent, course well marked, the signs on the course hilarious (the race director IS a masochist for sure!!), the water stations were well stocked and full of energetic volunteers that really kept me going especially late in the race when all I wanted to do was hop in a cab and head back to the hotel. ...no cabs drove by however so I could never give into my delusions. ;p The water stations had cut up snickers, oranges and plenty of gel packs at almost every station in the latter half of the marathon. Really cool! Even pretzels at one point....yum!

Con: the heat. Otherwise....everything was truly wonderful!! Great job everyone! My husband loved the course organization/friendly race officials too and being able to bike the course with me!

If you want a challenge, definitely run this course. You will not be disappointed, even if the weather doesn't cooperate! :o)
