PRO's: Event organizers very helpful and supportive, quality streets and course. Very well done overall, should put LV in top 10 for this race.

CON's: Some mile markers not clearly posted, some automobile traffic allowed too close to participants.

The Best Vegas Has to Offer (about: 2005)

I just completed my 3rd marathon, the new Las Vegas Marathon.

High-points: Fantastic organization (love Devine races - did L.A.); fast, flat course; first 6 or so miles were very exciting (down the strip!); and the weather, while chilly, turned out to lead to a PR.

Low points: Damn monorail wasn't running (I saw it on the race website!); sort of bland once away from the casinos; a bit expensive; and Las Vegas has not yet really caught on to the marathon thing. Overall, though, a lot of fun and recommended!

This marathon looks promising. I must say that it appears that the organizers are putting some time and money into this race. I did the 'old' Las Vegas Marathon in January of this year and said I'd never do it again because of the course, the wind, the poor water stop organization (for slow runners like myself, 5 hours + or -) and that awful 'Ultima' for a sports drink, but I'm going to give it another try. Running the strip, Freemont Street, the expo seminar speakers, the apparent organization and Gatorade make
another visit worthwhile, not to mention being in Vegas again.

It's a new course! Give the organizers a chance. (General Comments)

I ran the LV Marathon a few years back and enjoyed it. I don't care about crowds, I liked the open desert and some great watering holes when it was over. The new course for this year looks like a lot of fun.

Not what I expected (about: 2004)

This was my 3rd marathon (New York twice). Very disappointed. Poorly organized (very few water stations, gel stations). Runners were actually drinking out of jugs of water because they ran out of cups. Boring as hell, could count on my hand the number of spectators out cheering. Never again, even if they changed the course for 2005.
