This was my first Fargo Marathon and guaranteed I will be back!!! It truly was the flattest and fastest course (hence my half marathon new PB!!) and I cannot wait til next year! I do have 2 complaints though - I found the mileage markers to be nonexistent after about Mile 6 - I like to know where I am without checking my device! And the post-race food was truly non-appetizing! Donuts? Cookie Dough? Pizza? NOT what a runner wants after training so hard - both on the course and what we eat! I have run the Manitoba Marathon 3x and soon to do the 4th and the food at the end is incredible (and healthy!) - yogurt, chocolate milk, bagels, assortment of fruit, popsicles (the BEST after a hot run!) - all healthy options! Overall my experience was fabulous though - kudos to the Organizers and all of the Volunteers because YOU are what make the Marathon happen - THANK YOU!

This was my first year running the Fargo Marathon and it was the best experence ever! The bands were great and it all the spectators at every corner helped push me to the end!

Loved running your event! Have done it more than once. One or two requests? Once through the refreshment line at the end couldn't go back and get items I missed due to 'flow' and the 'new rules'. I ran alone and sometimes when one is a little dazed need a minute to get bearings.

Also not allowing spectators to join in the centre after the event. Could move bag pick up to the outer rim and allow friends and family down to mix with runners.

Just my thoughts however this is a fairly large event, not sure on how these rules 'stack up' to others of similar size.

Great run!

Am a Vendor who worked the expo the previous two days and then ran the 1/2 Marathon. Loved the Expo layout, not a over kill on vendors just the right amount for the runners and vendors alike. Course was great, spectators all along the course.

Only con was the finish, as a some of the 10k runners/walkers were bleeding over into the lane where the 1/2 marathoners were finishing. This did affect the outcome of the elite finish and really needs to be addressed.

I will be coming back for this race!

Flat and friendly. (about: 2012)

As far as marathons go, Fargo was a well-run operation. The course was flat and mostly residential with great crowd and band support. The starting / preparation area in the dome is handy and the finish at the dome was good especially if the weather was inclement.
Lodging did prove to be a problem and after talking with fellow runners we found that one has to book in January to get lodging close to the dome. We ended up downtown at a hotel without shuttle service and drove the 4 miles in heavy traffic to the dome. The other issue was the early checkout from the hotel (12 noon), which meant we had to pack everything in the car early, and hope for a good shower at the dome.
So book lodging early, be prepared for extreme weather changes, (Friday before the run it was 90+ degrees and the next morning it was in the 50s) beware of early hotel checkouts, and bring your own towel for the Fargo dome shower.

Mark,

We just wanted to Thank YOU and ALL involved in last weeks Fargo 'Rocks' Marathon for such a spectacular experience. It was our first time participating in this event and I cannot express how impressed we were with the whole process.
As you know, we are the 'Canadians' who, registered 'Late',(a BIG 'THANK YOU' to the gentleman who answered the phone late Monday Night.) Pulled into town 'Late', and parked our motor home, not where it was suppose to be parked, 'Late!' and all along the the way, you and you staff were so accommodating. How impressed were we??? VERY!!!
Thank you again for the Great time (we have told everyone) for one of the best Marathon experiences we have ever had. We look forward to being there again next year. (Bringing of coarse, more Canadians!)

Paul Pfrimmer & Scott Turnbull

Fargo marathon was very flat and provides a great opportunity for a PR. The fans along the course and bands were great and the people are very happy you are running in their city. The late(8:15) marathon start time is great for those of us who enjoy a little extra sleep. The course was kind of boring and mostly through residental streets but the fans made it interesting.

As good as they come! (about: 2012)

Put Fargo on your must do list. You will not be dissapointed! Table top flat course, awesome spectators, ample parking, and how bout that inside Fargo Dome finish! Good enough for a PR and BQ for me. I'll be back!

Amazing Race, Excellent for Beginners! (about: 2012)

This was my first time running the Fargo Marathon and I was extremely pleased. The organization was great, and the fans and community support were amazing! I really enjoyed the rock and roll theme and the residential route the marathon takes. You never know how windy Fargo might be and running through residential areas provides an excellent wind block. The only minimal complaint I have would be the numerous turns throughout the race but it's nothing overly excessive. I would recommend this race to all runners with a great opportunity to PR!
