The Warsaw Marathon is pancake flat, fast, historic and scenic; very well organized with the aid stations all well stocked with the usual fare - water and electrolyte drinks. The course takes you through the famous Old Town, with a few great parks and palaces, which offer necessary distraction if you happen to need some. The cobblestones are negligible at 5% and are all in the first 10K. The race entry fee was a bargain compared to North American marathon fees. The medal is one of the best I have in my collection of 27 or so marathons. So, this one is a clear MUST-DO.

An enjoyable, fun experience (about: 2007)

Excellent organization - one of the best. Fabulous weather. Great sense of companionship. Interesting route. Cobblestones are hard on the feet, but a fairly easy course as far as marathons go. Highly recommended race in a beautiful, historic city.

Would recommend this race to anyone (about: 2007)

Very well organized. A good size for a race, and held on a forgiving and flat course. The only poor part of the race was the water stations, which only just coped with the number of runners. Perhaps some more adults rather than just children would improve this point. Great medal!

good course, human size (about: 2006)

Nice atmosphere; the course gets you weaving through the city center. About 2,000 participants, which is a perfect critical mass to feel you are in a big crowd, and yet not in a hurtling hord of bisons. Beware of the cups that they hand out along the way: too small, and they splash everywhere. Get yourself good old water bottles (or energy drinks) that you can retrieve at various points of the race (you write your number on the bottle and somebody will have it ready for you when you get to it: very well organised). Not too many spectators, but good cheers.

Great atmosphere, perfect organization. (about: 2003)

The kind of race I love to be in: not too many runners (ca. 2,500), lots of activities happening before during and after the race and, first of all, perfect organization. Importantly, the race runs across the very heart of the city, crossing bridges, weaving through the old town square and getting you the flavor of the place. Warsaw-dwellers may not be the biggest crowd supporting you but those who did come watch were of great quality. As organizers top the race with children's contest for the most supportive school in Poland you get some 80(!) schools along the course cheering you on, offering water, iso, fruit, etc. This makes accidental passers-by stop and join them. Just a thrilling experience.
