The trail is narrow and the half requires two loops which can be mentally tough. It can also be very warm and humid. However, the scenery is excellent and the organization even better. Robby knows how to put on an event!

This a great race with more camaraderie than competition! With large names on the bibs, it was easy to cheer on fellow runners. Coming from 200 miles away, I left with a dozen new friends!

the course is beautiful, but narrow. The first mile or so is on a road allowing the 'pack' to thin a bit before hitting the actual trail, but there was some congestion, especially on the first loop. Also, if you hate 'loop' courses, be aware it take FOUR loops to runt he entire marathon. (only two for the half!) But it's really pretty and as its not concrete, easier on your body. Much of the course had two way traffic (runners coming at you). Well supported water/Gatorade aid stations, each also offered 1/2 bananas, orange wedges, gels, Vaseline, and cold wet towels. And they had REAL food at the end, red beans an rice, hot dogs, and hamburgers as well as pastries and bagels. I WILL be doing this one again.

This is such an awesome event! I did the Trail Challenge (half on Saturday and full on Sunday) and it was great both days. The loops get a little repetitive, but the scenery is so nice. With runners going both ways on the trails, it feels so supportive. Did I mention all the post race food for you and your guests?! Super organized and friendly!

Seabrook Lucky Trail Marathon

Seabrook is located on Galveston Bay at Clear Lake, southeast Houston & near Johnson Space Center. The packet pickup on Saturday afternoon was quick and efficient. Each runner received a short-sleeved technical shirt, pair of running socks, runner's cap, and a backpack. In honor of St. Patrick's Day, all were in green.
The start & finish lines were at Meador Park. Race day temperature ranged from mid 70s to high 80s. It was quite warm and humid. It was mainly overcast until about 10:30 AM, which was helpful. Then the sun was out & it became hot. The first mile was on residential street. The rest was on Seabrook Trails and the footing was good (crushed granite surface). The trails are scenic. We ran the same 6.55-mile out-&-back route 4 times. The aid stations were 1.5 to 2 miles apart, staffed by cheerful volunteers, & offered water, sports drinks, sliced oranges, & snacks. We had to cross a few streets & traffic control was good. The course was well marked & monitored. Mile markers were accurate & easily visible. There was limited crowd support. The finisher's medallion was very nice. There were more than enough recovery food items & drinks at the finish. In short, it was a very nice & well-organized marathon. I enjoyed running my marathon #92.
The winning times were 3:05:47 (overall male). 3:25:40 (overall female), 3:19:12 (Master's male), & 4:08:30 (Master's female). There was also a half marathon in which the winning times were 1:26:13 (overall male) & 1:42:31 (overall female). Additionally, there was a 4-person relay marathon.

Many thanks to the race director and wonderful volunteers at Seabrook trails! They put on a wonderful race in 2012.
The trail is flat, the scenery was nice, and while there were lots of runners, I didn't have any congestion issues. Lots of water stops. Great after party. Nice Tshirt, hat and socks in our race bag. Everything was as well, if not better organized than some of the big marathons I've run. So nice to park, for free, 5 minutes from the start/finish line.
My biggest challenge was the weather: warm and humid. Not a surprise for Houston in March but it did make for a tough run.
